Tuvalu Family Health Association
At TUFHA, youth are not just beneficiaries — they are partners in progress. Our Youth Development Program engages young people across Tuvalu through dynamic peer education, leadership and advocacy training, and practical life skills development. By equipping youth with accurate information on reproductive health, rights, and well-being, we empower them to become confident advocates, educators, and community leaders. We foster environments where young voices are heard and valued in shaping public health decisions. Whether delivering health talks in schools, supporting emergency outreach efforts, or participating in national forums, TUFHA youth are building a future rooted in knowledge, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
Youth Officer
Lilly V. Teafa is a dedicated Youth Officer at TUFHA who has empowered youth through education, advocacy, and public health leadership. She leads initiatives that nurture peer educators and amplify young voices in Tuvalu’s national development agenda.
Formerly a climate change warrior, Lilly has represented Tuvalu at COP28 and worked with Greenpeace International. She has spoken at the International Court of Justice, sharing Tuvalu's climate challenges with the world.
In addition to her environmental efforts, Lilly is a strong advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). She has been instrumental in breaking cultural taboos and promoting open discussions on SRHR in Tuvalu, recognizing the intersection between health, gender, and climate resilience. Lilly's multifaceted approach to advocacy—combining youth empowerment, climate action, and health education—serves as an inspiration to many. Her dedication exemplifies the profound impact one individual can have in driving positive change within their community and beyond.
Young people are vital to the future of Tuvalu. At TUFHA, we believe that empowering youth is the key to building a healthier, more resilient nation. Our programs are designed to build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills while promoting active youth participation in national development, decision-making, and health advocacy. We provide platforms for young people to express their voices, lead community outreach, and deliver peer-to-peer education on sexual and reproductive health, climate resilience, and gender equality. Through school programs, island-wide campaigns, and capacity-building workshops, TUFHA ensures that young Tuvaluans are equipped to take charge of their futures with purpose and pride.
